Reading, Writing & Word Study
We begin our daily Language Arts block with a teacher read aloud. We use authentic literature to model and practice reading and writing skills.
The read aloud is not only used to model and practice reading and writing strategies, it exposes students to excellent literature across genres in order to foster a love of reading.

We will conclude our L. A. block each day with the Daily 3 & Guided Reading Groups. The Daily 3 is a series of literacy activities that the students complete while the teacher is meeting with a small guided reading group, book club, or conferencing with students. During guided reading, students may be receiving instruction, conferencing with the teacher, or practicing reading strategies. During their independent Daily 3 time, students may choose to listen to reading, write, read to self, read with a partner, or work on word work.
